Deputy Vice Chancellor Pal Ahluwalia has challenged UniSA students to come up with an overall team name for the athletes competing at the Australian University Games last Sunday.
Mr Ahluwalia says, “we have great team colours in blue and white, now all we need is a great team name.”
Mr Ahluwalia recalls playing American Football at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada; his team name was ‘The Huskies.’
“It is very common in the American university system to have a team name, it helps build tradition and team unity,” Mr Ahluwalia said.
The acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of UniSA, believes there are no barriers for UniSA to build a culture of sport at university, similar to that in America and Canada.
UniSA has been competing at the Australian University Games for nine years and this year UniSA has funded over $90,000 for uniforms and equipment.
Now UniLife is calling upon the students to put their thinking caps to the test and vote on a team name.
