Another night spent waiting by the phone,
Praying my words, the wishes I’ve cried
On a million different nights,
Could seep through and reach you –
Stitch back together
Broken skin.
If only you could see,
You are a patchwork quilt;
Built to last by soft hands and
Treacherous moments.
We are patchwork people,
Seamstresses forming
Beauty from blood.
Never will we be brand new,
But there’s a story which lies
In every inch of black & blue.
