If you’re feeling a little gloomy this Valentine’s Day, you’re not alone! Luckily, Chloe Cannell and Heather McGinn have written us poems dedicated to all the lonely hearts.
No Roses on Valentine’s Day
Written by Chloe Cannell
Staring at my reflection
All vanities aside
I feel like a child in your eyes
Blushing at the touch
Of fingers falling into
Daydreams I drift through again and again
Could we all just feel hopeless?
In this time of lonely hearts
Your voice of troubles always in my mind
Feeling the burden of a secret that you say
No roses on Valentine’s Day
Holding your hand
Can’t be good for my heart
Watching your smile as I seem to do
Laughing in the heat of the light
You’ve found home in the stars
If I could, I’d illuminate each night sky
But there’s only me for company
So each and every day I try to glow
To ignite the spark in your brown eyes
Was I bright enough tonight?
Valentine Morning
Written by Heather McGinn
Connection echoes
We walk in three four time
Alone together
Heavy summer night
Caught the last bus to real life
Your eyes welded to mine
Pondering your mouth
Ecstasy and agony
Pulling me both ways
Falling into hope
Fingers of kimono silk
Found my hidden heart
You taste like desire
Black coffee in the twilight
Quiet wonderings
