Conviction (2010): Rated R
Starring Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell and Melissa Leo.
Conviction tells the true story of a sister’s struggle to save her brother from the injustice of the American legal system.
Kenneth Waters, played brilliantly by Sam Rockwell, has been sentenced to life in prison after being wrongly accused of murdering his next-door neighbour.
Having exhausted all possible legal avenues, his sister Betty-Anne (Hilary Swank), a high school drop-out and mother of two, decides to take matters into her own hands by becoming his lawyer.
Although those familiar with the real Waters story may be disappointed with the lack of depth, Conviction is well worth watching for its compelling storyline.
