Silicone. Saline. Poison. Inject Me. Baby, I’m a Free Bitch. I’m a free Bitch.
And that she was, when Lady Gaga came to town as part of her Monster Ball tour on Saturday 3rd of April.
With an explosive stage presence, elaborate set changes and her signature style Gaga took her friends and fans, her ‘little monsters’ on an exciting, somewhat eerie adventure to the Monster Ball.
On her quest to reach the Monster Ball, Gaga encountered a broken down car that transformed into a piano, conveniently allowing for a unique intro to Just Dance, a trip to nowhere on the subway and a trek through the depths of Central Park. A stage-sized monster also made an appearance right when the Monster Ball was so close but with a bit of Paparazzi and some strategically placed explosives it didn’t stand a chance!
Throughout the performance Lady Gaga provided comic relief with alterations to her heartfelt Brown Eyes, almost flew away in an elaborate moving costume for So Happy I Could Die, got bloody after a Monster had its way with her and stripped off to just her underwear for a crowd favourite Telephone.
Beyond putting on a great performance, Lady Gaga made a great connection with her audience, providing her fans with love, respect and an insight (true or not) into her life. She claimed her fans give her something to be ‘pretentious’ about and wished for her Monster Ball tour to provide them with a safe, happy place away from all the horrors of the outside world.
