Speaking in Tongues – A State Theatre Company Production
Written by Andrew Bovell
Speaking in Tongues starring Terence Crawford, Lizzy Falkland, Chris Pitman and Leeanna Walsman explores issues of trust and infidelity through portraying the consequences one must live with when certain mistakes are made. Inspiring the production of the successful film ‘Lantana,’ the cast of the play, as directed by Geordie Brookman act out the lives of nine characters, showing the various parts of both their domestic and ideal worlds.
Opening with a dimly lit waltz scene orchestrated by seductive dance music, the play progresses through each phase, revealing the mystery behind each character and how their lives became intertwined with one another. Although confusing at times, Speaking in Tongues is highly dramatic and humorous while demonstrating elements of love, mystery and deception.
