This amusing, original film perfectly captures the self-indulgent musings and ennui of being a teenager. The story, set in Wales in the late eighties, centres around the 15 year old Oliver, an only child who fancies himself as a bit of a literary genius in the making. Unfortunately no one in his school feels the same way. We follow his attempts to seduce a wayward pyromaniac girl and prevent the dissolution of his parent’s marriage, which he has been measuring by charting the position of the dimmer switch in his parents’ bedroom. Quirky, unique and thoroughly enjoyable, this film is sure to make you laugh and cringe simultaneously.
