After 2009’s disappointing album Humbug, the Arctic Monkeys deliver a satisfying return to form with Suck It and See; dark sexy slowdowns, 50s guitar sounds and classic tales of femme fatales and depressed waitresses.
The boys give us a much more poppy album – with a touch of edge with from Alex’s cheeky lyrics (only he could deliver “Your love is like a studded leather headlock” deadpan) and sharp guitar lines. The title is an oh-so-English reference to trying something new and mysterious – and while there isn’t anything particularly new in the album, we receive a combination of all the best bits from previous efforts and it’s bloody brilliant!
